Professor Adams specializes in 20th and 21st century literature from the United States and America, disability and health studies, media studies, race, gender, and sexuality theories, and nutritional science. Her latest book is Raising Henry: A Reminder of Motherhood, Disability, and Discovery , published by Yale University Press in 2013 and winner of the 2014 Delta Kappa Gamma Educators' Award. She is also the author of Continental Divide: Remapping the Cultures of North America (University of Chicago Press, 2009) and Sideshow U.S.A.: Freaks and the American Cultural Imagination (University of Chicago Press, 2001). She is Associate Editor (with Benjamin Reiss and David Serlin) of Keywords for Disability Studies and Associate Editor (with David Savran) of The reader of the masculinity studies (Blackwell Press, 2001). She is the editor of a critical edition of Kate Chopin's The awakening (Nice Publications, 2002). Her articles appeared in magazines such as PMLA , American literature , American literary history , American Quarterly , Minnesota Rating , Camera Obscura , GLQ , character , Yale Journal of Criticism and 20th century literature . She also wrote for Die New York Times , Washington Post , living room , the Chronicle of higher education , Gourmet , and the Times of London and blogged for Die Huffington Post .
