The Executive Session on the Future of Justice Policy, in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation's Safety and Justice Challenge, brings together more than two dozen leaders from the legal, social services, academia, criminal justice and communities severely affected by the justice system to find new ones Cultivate ideas. The round table on the future of judicial policy
The Roundtable on the Future of Justice Policy, supported by the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, is a series of live, public streaming forums that bring together a cross-section of business leaders, community members, academics and other experts. Discussion papers from leading researchers. They are designed to stimulate transformative thinking about what we can expect for our communities and our justice system. The opportunity
A multifaceted movement to reform the criminal justice system is unfolding across the country. Communities across the country are starting to grapple with skyrocketing incarcerations and develop new ways to respond to the problems of violence and poverty that land in our courts and prisons. With criminal justice reform gaining traction, it is time to rethink the nation’s approach to crime. We have the opportunity to envision a fundamental transformation of justice - developing a new framework that relies less on harsh punishment and more on the strength of the community and reduces the explosive interactions of violence, poverty and racial inequality. To seize this moment, it takes a direct examination of the realities of crime in America, as well as an honest examination of conventional political responses to violence.
If we want to change the direction of judicial policy, we need new ideas and ways to test and talk about them in order to change the national discussion. The Square One project aims to create new ways of thinking about how we respond to crime, promote more effective strategies, and contribute to a new justice narrative in America.
